Before the children start at Rockbeare, we like them to spend time in school to become accustomed to the staff and children; transition from one setting to the next is very important to us. Our Pre-School provides an excellent link.
Before the children leave at the end of Year 6, they have a programme of induction and liaison at Secondary School. Children usually go to Clyst Vale Community College, Cranbrook Education Campus, The Kings School or Colyton Grammar.
In September 2016 Yr6 went to: 7 x Clyst Vale Community College and 1 x The Kings School.
In September 2017 Yr6 went to: 7 x Clyst Vale Community College, 3 x Cranbrook Education Campus, 2 x The Kings School and 2 x Colyton Grammar School.
Rockbeare Primary School hold weekly formal staff meetings in order to develop the school's teaching programmes, monitor progress and share expertise. Being a small school means our knowledge of children's particular academic, physical, social and personal needs are recognised and nurtured. The staff takes part in regular professional development courses through Clyst Vale Learning Community and Devon Curriculum Services. We pride ourselves at Rockbeare on promoting high academic standards in a supportive friendly atmosphere.

Within each class, teachers plan work in accordance within the National Curriculum taking into consideration children's individual learning styles and needs. Throughout the school day, children will access their learning in a variety of ways for example whole class work, group work, guided work, paired/peer support or child centred individual learning.
